O-RINGS & X-RINGS Pafilco Mechanical Sealing Center | Watertight Pumps Piraeus Attica |
O-Rings offer the designer an efficient and economical sealing element for a wide range of static or dynamic applications. Inexpensive production methods and its ease of use have made the O-Ring the most widely used seal. A broad range of elastomer materials for both standard and special applications allow the O-Ring to be used to seal practically all liquid and gaseous media. |
BACK-UP RINGS Back-up rings are also known as anti extrusion rings. A back-up ring is a rigid ring that holds an elastomeric seal to its designed shape and in its correct place. Back-up rings are often used with O-Rings to prevent extrusion at high pressures. O-RINGS NBR Nitrile rubber (NBR) is the general term for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Copolymer, it has good resistance to hydrocarbons, petroleum, fuels, water (212°F), and ethylene glycol. Nitrile is poor in its resistance to ozone, weathering, and sunlight. ORINGS VITON Fluorocarbon (FKM aka VITON) o-rings have excellent resistance to high temperatures and a broad range of chemicals. Their permeability and compression set are excellent. QUAD- OR X-RINGS Quad Rings have an advantage over standard O-rings as the parting lines are between the lobes, away from the sealing surface. This eliminates the problems of leakage that often results from a parting line’s irregular surface as found on an O-Ring. In these cases, X-rings provide a better, more uniform seal. |
